Today I was looking at news stories online, and I came across an article with the headline of "10 things you didn't know about Dairy Queen". I was interested in what I didn't know, so I clicked on it. It brought me to a slide that forced me to click through all the items in the list. This is so annoying! Why do the do that? I see it all the time. Do they get paid for every side you click through? I wish they would just put the whole article on one page.

They are called Gallery Stories and a more and more common annoyance on the web. It's a fairly new trend that was created to accommodate the increasing use of tablets and mobile devices. It is supposed to be a nicer user experience but is more annoying for desktop viewers. The better sites give you an option to choose gallery view or inline.
