Life is happiest for me when it has been simplified. There are three main things that I need for a simple life, and one more thing to support them.
1. A home to ground me 2. Enough food to nourish me 3. Friends and family to share this with 4. Income to support 1, 2, and 3 Our new house is starting to help us meet these goal again. So, the house is of course taking care of the first problem, but it is also starting to take care of the second problem due to the amount of land we have with the property. The land is allowing us to grow some of our own food. The more I can produce on my own without having to rely on other industry the better. I mentioned on another post that I would like to produce as much or all of our power as well, and it now looks like I will be able to do that soon as well. It looks like our power bills will be fairly low. This being said, we are in the process of finding a contractor to replace our roof. With all the government rebates it wont cost much more to install solar panels. Power bill mostly taken care of. Income is the last problem. One of the nice things about this house is that the monthly mortgage is low enough that it can be managed with one income. If you can do that, your are ahead of most people in the game. The last thought of the day is this. Do what you love, and simplify your life and you will be happy. Our society says that you need the "important" job with the big salary, and the big house to be happy. You don't. Those things just make life more complicated. Till next thought comes into my head.

Hello everyone. I know it has been a while since I have written in my blog, but it has been a little crazy moving into our new home. Being a short sale, it was a much more complicated process getting in. We put in our initial offer in December of last year, and we have only been in for about a month now. It was worth the wait though, and we are feeling right at home. We have painted the whole inside of our house, and I have planted a garden that is going like gangbusters. I just love it! My sister gave us some tomato plants, some mint, and some time. We have expanded our garden with pumpkins, cucumber, and a couple rows of corn. We started composting for the best soil and I'm already excited with the results. Also, we have removed a wood stove from the living room to make room for a gas fireplace, and to meet the requirements of the EPA. So far, this is the best house we have had the privilege to live in.
As many of you know, we have lived in four different places over the years, from here to Chicago and back again. We have been blessed in experiences in our lives in many ways. With that being said, I'm so glad to be back home with our friends and family. We have been able to simplify our life, and that has allowed us to reconnect with people that we have been away from for a long time. I can't wait to reconnect with the rest of you soon. We are hoping to have an open house in August or September. I will get more information out soon. I'm going to talk a little bit more about the simplification of our life, and how it has effected us for the better in one of my next posts. It is a part of my new life that is very important to me. Thank you for reading, Justin I've started a 1950's trailer series. Here is my first sketch. I hope to have a series of cards soon. They should be fun.
