well, our weekends seem to get shorter and shorter, but we did started on a textured wall in the living room. I will upload pictures when we are a little further along. We have decided to put up panels that have a slight retro feel to go along with our late 50's house. The small section that we did put up looks great. I can't wait until we can get the rest of the panels up and painted. It will make our living space much warmer and inviting. Little by little we are getting this house in shape. It has been fun doing it, and I'm glad we have many years to get our projects done.
My aunt Janice was down this weekend. It was very nice to see her. It was the first time that she was able to see the house. Next time we will be able to give her a better tour. Maybe we will have our garden going and daylight. Anyway, it was nice to be in the company of family. We had a nice conversation. Thank you aunt Janice for stopping by this weekend! We loved seeing you. As everyone knows, Valentine's day is coming up and I wanted to say a few words. I have been fortunate enough to spend 15 of them, not only with the one I love, but with my best friend. Thank you Peter for being part of my journey through life. Not everyone gets to go through life with someone they love, and I'm forever grateful we found each other. We have been able to support each other through the years in many different ways, and I'm glad we have made it through the challenges life tends to through. I will always be by your side, and look forward to growing old with you until we have to leave this world behind. I love you Peter Dowell, and I'm glad to be your Valentine.
since I have some time going home from work I have decided to write a short blog post to test the ability to blog on a moble device.
So I have had a very long day at work today. There wasn't a lot of work today, and there is nothing worse than trying to find things to do, and there are only so many tutorials you can do. I'm hoping that we have a lot of work coming for tomorrow. Everything seems to be coming in big chunks. We will get a bunch of work and then nothing, and then the cycle starts again. At this point I can't wait until I can work in the yard this weekend. It helps so much with stress. This weekend it was starting to feel a lot like spring, and thank goodness we were able to take advantage of it. Peter and I got our raised beds ready to start to grow veggies, we planted an apple tree and a pear tree, and we got some weeding done. I feel very accomplished. Here is a picture of the flower beds in front of the house. I'm very excited that things are coming up. I can't wait to see the blooms. I got the bed most of the way cleaned up. After those flower bloom the California Poppies will come up along with the Alyssum. I love the purple and orange combination that we will have in that bed. The next project will be to start planting my rose garden. I will start that process next weekended depending on the weather. I'm going to transplant a few roses from another bed and we purchased a new rose as well. I plan to make a path that guides you through the garden leading back to a seating area. I think it will look very nice. I will post pictures as soon as I'm further along with the project. Maybe I can have a tea party when I get done with the project. I had a dream that I had a formal afternoon tea in that space. I think it would be fun. We could have cucumber sandwiches, and lovely little cakes. I seem to always have fantasies in my head. Would anyone like to have a rose garden tea party? Please let me know in the comments on this web page.
One last note. We are getting closer to being able to go back to Chicago to get the rest of our stuff! If everything goes good we will go this summer. We have made it over some major hurdles to get to this point, but we have been able to learn a few things along to way. Life is not always easy, but it is what you make of it. Learn from your mistakes, push on, and you will make your goals. We are making ours one day at a time, but we are getting there, and we are happy. Thank you for reading my post, and enjoy spring. Hello Everyone, and Happy New Year! Peter and I would like to wish everyone a wonderful 2016. In 2016 we are hoping to finally get the rest of our stuff from Chicago. It has been a long time coming, and we are looking forward to the adventures of the road. It will be nice to close that chapter of our life and move on to the next. I can't wait to get the garden going again, we have so much fun watching it grow and getting all of our vegetables from it. There is nothing like eating fresh from the land, and being able to share with friends and family. For all those wondering, I plan to have another pumpkin patch. That was so much fun this past year, and I want to make an annual tradition. As for the rest of the year we hope to be able to make many home improvements that are very much needed including finishing my rose garden, insulation, and various repairs. We will see how far the budget will go. Anyway you look at it there are lots of stuff planned. We can't wait to see everyone all year long.
This Saturday is our craft day that we are hosting, and I'm really looking forward to it. The craft I've decided to do is a snowman figure. A couple of weeks ago I did a test snowman and it turned out very cute. Several people are coming, and bringing there supplies and holiday ideas. Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with. It should be very fun. If this goes well I think I will make this an annual gathering.
We are also hosting a "Christmas Vacation" movie party. This is the second year in a row that we have done this, and last year was great fun. I can't wait to see some of our friends that we haven't seen in a while. This is a great way to start the holiday season. Merry Christmas everyone! |
